What we hear most

The problems that bring law firms to us

  • Business email compromise: someone watching a mailbox for weeks, waiting for a closing
  • Altered wire instructions arriving from a familiar looking address
  • Client security questionnaires and outside counsel guidelines you cannot answer accurately
  • Case files on personal devices with no separation and no way to wipe them
  • Shared drive permissions nobody has reviewed since a paralegal left in 2021

What we put in place, and evidence

  • MFA on email, VPN and admin accountsEnforced
  • SPF, DKIM and DMARCAt enforcement
  • Out of band wire verification procedureWritten and trained
  • Mailbox rule alertingMonitored
  • Encryption at rest and in transitConfigured
  • Restore tested backupsTest date recorded
  • Matter level access controlsReviewed quarterly
  • Incident response planWritten

Every control produces a document, a report or a log. When a carrier, an auditor or a client asks whether you have it, the answer is a file rather than a conversation.

What we support

  • Practice management: Clio, MyCase, PracticePanther and Smokeball, kept running, secured and integrated with your email and document storage
  • Document management, matter level permissions and defensible retention
  • Microsoft 365 with the security baseline set properly rather than left at default
  • Secure client file exchange that is not an email attachment
  • Mobile devices and remote access, separated from personal data

Changing providers

Switching without losing a day

Cutover happens outside your working hours. Nothing that touches a server happens while you are trying to operate.

We document before we change anything. Your network gets mapped, credentials inventoried and licensing verified while your current provider is still in place.

You own everything from day one. Documentation, passwords, licences and configuration registered in your name. If you ever leave us, you take all of it and nothing stops working.

We own the vendor calls. Your software vendors, your ISP, your phone provider. That is our job, not your office manager's.

Straight answers

Questions law firms ask first

We are four attorneys and two staff. Are we too small for managed IT?

No. Firms that size are where the risk to reward is worst, because the data is valuable and nobody's actual job is the technology. Flat per user pricing means small firms pay small numbers.

How do you prevent wire fraud specifically?

A combination. MFA and conditional access make mailboxes harder to compromise, email authentication and filtering stop most spoofed messages, alerting catches suspicious mailbox rules, and a written out of band verification step means nobody acts on changed payment details without a phone call to a known number. The last one prevents the most losses and costs nothing.

Can you help with a client security questionnaire or outside counsel guidelines?

Yes, and this comes up more every year. We map each question to what is actually running in your environment so your answers are accurate and defensible. Overstating a control creates more exposure than disclosing a gap with a remediation date.

Who at your company would have access to privileged material?

A named pod, our own employees, in the United States. We sign a confidentiality agreement before we look at anything, access is least privilege, and it is logged. You can meet the engineers before you sign.

Do you work evenings so we do not lose billable hours?

Yes. Anything disruptive happens outside business hours. That is standard, not an upcharge.

What happens if we are breached?

You call the number in your incident response plan and we start immediately, working from a written procedure. Containment, scope, restoration from tested backups, and documentation of every step, because you will need that record for notification obligations and for your carrier.
